Lockerbie Bomber Is a Millionaire

Remember that Libyan that the Scottish high court commuted the sentence of and sent home to die in dignity, whom they are having trouble keeping track of? Well, apparently he is a millionaire, or was in 2000 when he went to trial.
The Lockerbie bomber had £1.8m in a Swiss bank account when he was convicted eight years ago, it has been revealed.

The Crown Office, Scotland’s equivalent of the Crown Prosecution Service, has confirmed it refused to grant bail to Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi as recently as November last year because of concerns he might try to gain access to the money.

The existence of such a large sum in a personal account casts doubt on claims by the Libyan government that Megrahi was a low-ranking airline worker.

Gee, I just love how the law enforcement model works when it comes to dealing with terrorists. Catching and releasing pirates in Somalia, or paying millions of dollars in ransom to them, releasing Gitmo detainees only to allow them to return to their barbaric ways and now granting American constitutional rights to all people of the world no matter where they are or what they are engaged in. It matters not whether you are simply trying to enter the country illegally or killing contractors in Fallujah, the message is clear. Let's wag a finger in their face, tell them they are a naughty boy, give them a little timeout in the corner and then let them back out to play as long as they promise not to do it again.

It only has marginal success with 5-year-olds and even less success with hardcore terrorists imbued with the power of radicalized Islamic beliefs.
